Seeking

Whale Tracks

I’m really not one to complain
But I must, about Skamokawa rain.

There is no place which could compare
The water it’s just everywhere.

The tide comes in, the rain comes down
There’s water oozing from the ground.

Now this you’ve heard, and probably know
Whales roamed the land some years ago.

Now it’s but a tale, but I’ve heard tell
They roamed the hills around Naselle.

If you look up on K.M. Hill
Whale tracks you’ll see there still.

It could be so, and just might be
that they splashed out into the sea.

Now you can prove it this very day
Just look for whales in Skamokawa.

(Skamokawa is pronounced skaw-mock-a-way)
